Dante Martin Injured; FTR Embraces New ROH Tag Champs

Update: Haus of Wrestling was told by someone backstage at ROH Supercard of Honor that Dante Martin “definitely” broke his leg. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Earlier tonight, five teams participated in a Reach For The Sky ladder match for the then-vacant ROH tag titles: The Kingdom, The Lucha Brothers, Top Flight, United Empire, and La Facción Ingobernable. The titles were declared vacant following the passing of Jay Briscoe, and this is the match Tony Khan booked to choose a successor to The Briscoe Brothers’ reign.

The match was filled with big, harrowing moments but none were more impressive than when Penta el Zero M hit a Canadian destroyer on Dante Martin off a ladder and through four tables that had been stacked on top of each other outside the ring. Back in the ring, his brother Fenix ascended another ladder to grab the titles hanging over the ring.

Mark Briscoe then made his way to the ring with the ROH World Tag Team titles in hand to bestow them to The Lucha Brothers. Briscoe did not come alone, however, as he brought out FTR to embrace the new champions. FTR’s ROH appearance comes at an interesting time for them as Dax Harwood has said the duo has made a decision about their future. They will put their AEW careers on the line against AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Gunns, this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite.

It is worth noting that, based on the way Dante fell through the tables at the end of the match, many on social media are speculating that he has broken his leg. This has not been confirmed and we are certain it will be addressed in the post-show media scrum.

This was not Mark Briscoe’s only appearance at ROH Supercard of Honor. Earlier on the card, Briscoe took on Samoa Joe for the ROH TV title but came up short after succumbing to the Coquina Clutch. Following the bout, Briscoe received thunderous applause from the crowd before rolling outside the ring to share an emotional hug with his mother.
