Jon Moxley Announced For Same NJPW Show As Mercedes Mone

Following strict pandemic-era restrictions being lifted, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has been doing a great job of regaining the momentum they were seeing just before the world went dark. As of late, Mercedes Mone has made the most noise for the promotion stateside, and overseas, with a series of successful appearances and matches following her Wrestle Kingdom 17 debut.

Mone’s next, and potentially final for a while, NJPW appearance will take place later this month, on May 21, at NJPW STRONG Resurgence. Mone is set to battle Stephanie Vaquer in a semi-final tournament match to crown the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, and AEW’s Willow Nightingale will take on Momo Kohgo in the other semi-final bout. The finals of the tournament will also take place as part of the event.

Now, NJPW is adding even more star power to this already stacked card by announcing former AEW World Champion and IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley’s participation. You can find NJPW’s full announcement below.

That lineup has been made even stronger with the news that Jon Moxley will be in action at Resurgence!

Moxley’s last NJPW appearance was last October in New York at the Night Before Rumble on 44th Street. There a mystery partner in an elimination main event on the surprise card, fans have to go all the way back to last summer for the last announced appearance for Mox in an NJPW ring. Then it was in a brutal deathmatch with El Desperado at Music City Mayhem; what level of violence will Moxley bring to Long Beach May 21?
