The official Twitter account for The Iron Sheik has shared the following post, confirming the passing of the WWE Hall of Famer at the age of 81.
During his time in the ring The Iron Sheik feuded with legends like Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, and more. He is a former WWF World Heavyweight and Tag Team Champion and competed on behalf of Iran at the 1968 Olympics in Greco-Roman Wrestling before moving to the United States to become the assistant coach for the American team.
Sheik’s tumultuous and colorful life was the subject of the 2014 documentary, The Sheik.
