This announcement comes about a week removed from the news that Pittsburgh will host the 2023 installment of WWE Payback on September 2. Interestingly, September 2 is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, which is when AEW: All Out is rumored to be taking place in Chicago. October 7, the date for WWE Fastlane, is also a Saturday, so it would seem that a returning CM Punk is going to have some heavy competition on Saturday nights coming up soon.

Unlike Kurt Angle with Pittsburgh, there isn’t one name that pops out as the most famous Indianapolis pro wrestling star of all time. A few notable names from the Indiana market that could be considered for surprise appearances are WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk and Nick Dinsmore, formally Eugene. Sarah Logan is also from Indiana, and it is possible she and The Viking Raiders get some extra attention near the event.
