Teddy Long Believes WWE Has Entered A New Era – Exclusive

WWE is on a bit of a hot streak. Following Vince McMahon’s retirement last year, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Stephanie McMahon, and Nick Khan quickly reshaped WWE’s schedule and creative vision. The newly refocused product included several returning faces, like Dakota Kai and Karrion Kross, along with more streamlined and easy-to-follow storytelling that culminated on Saturday night premium live events.

The impact of those decisions quickly became apparent as the company began regularly setting attendance and viewership records, which is something that has only accelerated in recent months, despite the remote return of Vince McMahon and his influence. Just a few headlines from the past two weeks include Money In The Bank breaking the company’s all-time arena gate record and WWE Smackdown drawing more than three million fans for their second quarter hour this past Friday.

On a recent Haus of Wrestling episode, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long commented on the promotion’s big wins as of late and why he feels they are happening.

“You’re giving the people something they want to see,” he said. “The hottest thing they have right now is The Bloodline. The Bloodline, to me, is great. I don’t know who the writer is, but he is certainly, he or she; whoever it is, they’re certainly on top of their game. Because with The Bloodline, you’re dealing with family, and that’s real, and you can feel that because that’s going to happen in somebody’s life somewhere down the line.”

“And so that’s what it is with WWE now; they got something that the people want to see. I enjoy seeing it. Okay? I enjoy watching Damien Priest, who I think is doing a hell of a job. LA Knight. All these guys that are coming up in the business. Dominik Mysterio. I enjoy watching those young kids, and I think that’s what the people do, too. It’s a brand new era, and I think people are enjoying it.”

A new Haus of Wrestling episode will be released today at Noon EST on Premier Streaming Network and will be available on the Haus of Wrestling podcast feed shortly after. I will be joined by Stephanie Chase to talk about the top pro wrestling news from the past five days and will present my full interview with former ROH star Beer City Bruiser.
