Backstage Updates On Kevin Owens And Liv Morgan’s Injuries

Last night’s WWE Monday Night Raw episode saw two top Superstars beaten down and injured by The Judgment Day. Kevin Owens was on the wrong side of a blindside attack at the top of the entrance ramp in the closing moments of Sami Zayn versus Dominik Mysterio, and, later on, Liv Morgan had her arm wrapped in a steel chair before it was crushed by a big stomp from Rhea Ripley. The attack on Owens was enough of a distraction to cost Zayn his match, and Ripley never had to wrestle Morgan since she ambushed before their bout could begin.

Both incidents garnered a fair amount of heat for Raw’s purple and black stable, something they have not been lacking in recent months. With that said, there appears to be more going on with both attacks beyond the decision to turn the audience even further against the faction. On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that Morgan is legitimately suffering from some kind of shoulder injury, while Owens is dealing with a fractured rib.

Morgan has suffered from a shoulder injury in the past, but from what Bryan Alvarez said during the show, it appears that this injury is to the other shoulder. She will now be taken out of action for what could be a long while, but there was no mention of any kind of surgery as of now. Her former tag team partner, Raquel Rodriguez, appears to be on a collision course with Ripley, possibly culminating at WWE SummerSlam.

Owens has been dealing with a lingering rib injury for quite a while and will take some time off to rest. Of course, Owens is currently one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, alongside Sami Zayn, and his absence from TV puts the status of the titles up in the air. As of now, neither Owens nor Zayn are announced for WWE SummerSlam.

The main event for SummerSlam will feature two men that the current tag champs were at odds with just months ago, leading into and at WWE WrestleMania 39 as Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and title of Tribal Chief against Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat match where anything goes. Owens and Zayn defeated The Usos in the main event of WrestleMania 39 night one, becoming WWE Tag Team Champions for the first time.
