LA Knight has seemingly done the impossible, win a big match at a major WWE premium live event. Yeah! The fan favorite came out on top in the WWE SummerSlam Slim Jim Battle Royal, outlasting over twenty other WWE stars. Among the marquee names in the match were AJ Styles, Omos, Grayson Waller, Bronson Reed, The Miz, and Sheamus, the last man Knight eliminated on his way to victory.
In the waning moments of the match, Sheamus and Knight recreated a spot that they intended to go correctly on Smackdown this past Friday night but didn’t go quite as planned. This time, however, it was a success, as Knight leaped to the top rope where Sheamus was perched and threw him to the mat with a modified belly-to-belly suplex. Shortly after, he pitched the Brawling Brutes front man from the ring to a huge crowd reaction.
While nothing is certain, it is possible that Knight will continue his WWE Smackdown feud against The Brawling Brutes, but there is also potential that the promotion will push the former NXT star in a new, stronger direction. Earlier this year, LA Knight was in contention for the United States Championship but fell short in qualifying for an actual shot. With current US Champion Austin Theory being somewhat unceremoniously eliminated by Santos Escobar, it would seem Knight would have good reason to lay claim to a title opportunity.
