IYO SKY To Defend Women’s Title In Triple Threat At WWE Fastlane

Following a loss against Charlotte Flair on tonight’s WWE SmackDown, Damage CTRL leader Bayley volunteered WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY to defend her title in a Triple Threat match against Flair and Asuka next Saturday at WWE Fastlane. Bayley’s offer came in response to a promo in Japanese from Asuka, with Bayley seeming to think that’s what Asuka was asking for. However, after Bayley confirmed the match, SKY seemed confused and told Bayley that Asuka had said something else entirely.

SKY successfully defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Asuka last week, with the help of Damage CTRL, of course. Since winning the title with a Money in the Bank cash-in at WWE SummerSlam, SKY has successfully defended against Zelina Vega in addition to Asuka.

Bayley volunteering SKY for a match that could see her lose her title without being pinned is likely to cause some friction within the group. For the time being, however, SKY will likely remain more concerned with Asuka and Flair ahead of the match next Saturday. Flair hasn’t lost on a televised event since SummerSlam, and a win at Fastlane would give the WWE star her 15th world title win, bringing her closer to the record held by her father, Ric Flair, and John Cena, who both have had 16 world title reigns.
