Dominik Mysterio Title Rematch Announced For Upcoming NXT

Following his title loss Saturday at WWE NXT No Mercy, Dominik Mysterio will get a rematch against Trick Williams on tomorrow’s show, with the WWE NXT North American Championship on the line. The news was announced by Rhea Ripley, who made her return on tonight’s WWE Raw after several weeks off. Ripley implied that she pulled some strings to make the rematch happen and, before moving on, the WWE Women’s World Champion warned Mysterio that if he should fail tomorrow, he shouldn’t return to The Judgment Day.

Saturday’s match featured Dragon Lee as a special guest referee, and no members of The Judgment Day were there to back Mysterio up. As a result, the 26-year-old WWE star lost the title despite his best efforts to cheat for the victory. Ripley then made her disappointment with Mysterio clear on tonight’s show, laying some blame on the feet of Damian Priest as well.

Mysterio first won the NXT North American title back in July on an episode of NXT. Since then, the young performer has become a fixture on the show, helping attract some extra attention to the brand. Before losing his title on Saturday, Mysterio was at one point set to defend it against Mustafa Ali, who was surprisingly released after the match was announced but before it was able to happen. During his reign, Mysterio also defended against Dragon Lee, Wes Lee, Sami Zayn, Butch, and more.
