WWE Loading Up Next Week’s NXT With John Cena And Much More

Next week, the ongoing rivalry between WWE NXT and AEW will be renewed as the latter will present a special Title Tuesday edition of Dynamite. The two pro wrestling entities previously went head to head on a weekly basis from October 2019 until April 2021. During that time, AEW won the viewership war on sixty-three occasions, with WWE NXT only picking up ten victories. In the end, WWE made the call to move NXT off Wednesday nights to Tuesdays, where it remains. With another confrontation on the horizon, both shows are pulling out all the stops in hopes of drawing more eyeballs.

Last night’s WWE NXT featured a big rematch announced for next week’s show: Carmelo Hayes versus Bron Breakker. Earlier this year, Hayes dethroned Breakker for the NXT Championship in a hard-hitting bout at Stand & Deliver, and the two ran it back the following month at Battleground. The bout will have added stakes and interest, as Hayes announced that John Cena will be in his corner. Not to be outdone, the show closed with Paul Heyman revealing he will be in Bron Breakker’s corner due to Cena’s ongoing interference in The Bloodline’s business.

The addition of Cena and Heyman to next week’s episode was not the only big tease for next week’s show. Former AEW EVP Cody Rhodes will make his NXT debut and deliver a special announcement. While there is no clear indication in regard to what Rhodes will say, it is possible he will announce the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The annual NXT tradition features a men’s and women’s tag team tournament, with the winners of each having their name added to the coveted Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Cup. Last year’s tournaments were won by The Creed Brothers and the team of Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai, respectively.

Next week’s episode of NXT will also feature Asuka returning to the yellow and black brand to take on Roxanne Perez. It is also expected that fans will get a follow-up to Dominik Mysterio retaining the NXT North American Championship, which happened in the main event of last night’s show. There have also been ongoing teases for former AEW star Brian Pillman Jr., and his presence on a show against his former employer seems possible.

For their part, AEW will also come out swinging next Tuesday as they will present Adam Copeland’s debut match. The former Edge will battle his long-time friend Christian Cage’s muscle, Luchasaurus.
