Sami Zayn Blacks Out His X Profile Picture

This past Monday night on WWE Raw, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens failed to win back the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. The two men fell short against current title holders Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, and the future for both following the loss has seemed open-ended. Just now, on X, Zayn replaced his profile picture with an all-black image.

While there is no clear indication why Zayn shared the photo, speculation is bound to run wild. Coincidentally, within the last hour, Fightful has reported that tonight’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown could feature a major Raw star jumping to the blue brand.

Weeks ago, Rhodes announced that he had arranged a trade between the two brands to bring Jey to Raw. Until now, it has remained unknown which Raw talent could be headed to SmackDown. With Zayn and Owens definitively out of the WWE tag titles mix, it could open the door for him to be splintered away as a singles star yet again.

Of course, Zayn has a lot of history with The Bloodline and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, who returns to WWE TV tonight. After feuding with the faction initially, he later became a heel and joined the group. After months of being the plucky, loveable member of the stable, he eventually had enough and turned his back on them, becoming a babyface yet again and unsuccessfully challenging Reigns for his title. Outside of some interactions with Jey on Raw, he has largely been kept away from The Bloodline after being drafted to Raw earlier this year.

There could be any number of other reasons for Zayn to change his profile picture. There is also the ongoing war in Israel, which fellow former WWE star Dean Muhtadi wrote about earlier today, and he could be reacting to that.
