Rey Mysterio Confirms Successful Knee Surgery

This past Friday night on WWE SmackDown, Rey Mysterio was attacked by his LWO stablemate, Santos Escobar. The two were put at odds by Carlito, another member of the LWO, who accused Escobar of not doing enough to help Mysterio even the odds in his US Championship defense against Logan Paul at Crown Jewel. In the match’s closing moments, one of Paul’s entourage members handed him brass knuckles. Escobar was able to run off the lackey, but the knuckles were left on the ring apron and were used to defeat Mysterio for the title.

Escobar’s turn on Mysterio was vicious and included the former Legado Del Fantasma leader hurl the Master of the 619 into one of the ring posts. The attack looked brutal, and there seems to be good reason; Mysterio will be taking time away from in-ring action while he recovers from successful knee surgery.

“Knee surgery was successful,” Mysterio writes in an Instagram post. “Now payback on @escobarwwe is on the horizon! Pagarás por los daños #Santos.”

Mysterio also tagged Dr. Jeffrey Dugas, who conducted the procedure in Birmingham, AL. No timeframe was given regarding how long he will be out of action.
