Tony Khan Fires Back At The USA Network’s ‘Cagematch’ Jab

Last night, during WWE Raw, the official USA Network X account responded to a fan pointing out the history between Seth Rollins and Jinder Mahal. The two former WWE Champions engaged in a promo battle on the show and will face off for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship next week. “What was the cagematch rating?” they wrote. The comment was intended as a shot at AEW President Tony Khan, who has routinely pointed to the high Cagematch.net score that AEW pay-per-views, shows, and matches routinely garner.

Of course, while Mahal is an accomplished star, many find it hard to put their finger on which of his bouts really stands out to them. That could change next week when he takes on Rollins, but that also seems to be part of the USA Network’s joke.

“A moral victory for USA is one win more than their World Title challenger Jinder Mahal has in the past 364 days… because it’s been literally a full year since he won a match,” Khan shot back on X. “You really put AEW in our place getting Jinder Mahal in a big match on your tv show. Do it more often.”

Khan is no stranger to speaking his mind and stirring up drama on social media. Last year, the AEW President quote retweeted one of our reports about how Shawn Michaels and Triple H were looking to send him a message with a loaded-up show the week they went head-to-head.

“I have a message for them,” he wrote. “See you TONIGHT at a special Tuesday Night #AEWDynamite: Title Fight Tuesday At 8pm ET/7pm CT on @TBSNetwork At least the first 30 Minutes Are Commercial-Free, + a big overrun TONIGHT!”

Khan’s response was accompanied by a screenshot from an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm that sees Larry David’s character’s front door spray painted with the words “BALD ASSHOLE.” Who Khan was calling a bald asshole is still up for debate.
