CM Punk Is Open To AEW Return

Look in my eyes. What do you see? The latest news regarding CM Punk and his status with AEW.

Fightful is reporting that the former AEW World Champion has pitched multiple scenarios for his return to the promotion, something Haus of Wrestling can also confirm. Included in those proposals is a willingness to work with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, despite the altercation that ensued following the AEW All Out media scrum. However, The Elite, as of a few months ago, was not open to the idea. While asking around about the report, we got the impression The Elite’s position has not changed much, if any.

It was also noted that Punk has shown a willingness to work with AEW while keeping his distance from The Elite if needed. One idea that has apparently been talked about backstage is AEW launching a Saturday show, possibly opening the door to separate the roster. This is something we had heard as well during ROH Supercard of Honor and WWE WrestleMania 39 weekend. Specifically, we were told by a source that the idea would be to have CM Punk on the Saturday show and The Elite on Wednesdays.

In the ROH Supercard of Honor post-show media scrum, you can hear me ask Khan about possibly adding another show and if he finds creating separate rosters for the shows a viable way to create more harmony with the overall roster. Khan did not address the question directly but did say he is always open to adding more AEW and ROH properties.

Punk also appears to be willing to work outside of AEW, whether that means for ROH or one of their partner promotions, like NJPW or AAA, was not made clear. The Second City Saint did seemingly poke fun at the idea of wrestling outside of AEW on Instagram with a photo of a bingo hall. This possibly implies he’d be open to doing small indie shows in bingo or VFW halls if it meant he could get back in the ring.
