CM Punk And Chris Jericho Meeting Looks To Have Taken Place

Once again, Tony Khan will make a major announcement tonight on AEW Dynamie. What that announcement will be could be related to any one of the major All Elite stories bubbling behind the scenes at the moment. Could he be announcing a big match for the upcoming Wembley Stadium show? Will he formally announce the much-rumored AEW Saturday night show? Or, could the AEW founder make some kind of announcement regarding CM Punk and his rumored return to the promotion?

While we wait to find out what Khan has to say, there is a backstage CM Punk update hitting the pro wrestling news sites. Recently, a meeting between The Second City Saint and Chris Jericho, along with FTR and Khan, was reportedly set to take place. Possibly to speak about working together, or possibly to merely clear the air ahead of Punk’s return to the promotion. If reports about Punk’s WWE Raw visit are to be believed, it would appear he is in the mood to mend fences.

PWTorch was the first to report on their VIP audio hotline that the meeting between Punk and Jericho took place last week, possibly Friday in Tampa. Haus of Wrestling heard the same report from a source yesterday but, much like the Torch, was unable to verify it with a second source. The way it was described to us was that it “Went well,” which coincides with the Torch’s description of the meeting.

Fightful has also released a report regarding the meeting, also confirming that it has already taken place. They too say it went well and was “relatively uneventful,” especially considering the two mercurial parties involved and the issues they have had in the past. Sources they spoke with said the meeting going well could lead to the two working together upon Punk’s return, which at one point was “set in stone,” but that program is not confirmed.
