Andrade El Idolo ‘Had No Idea’ He Was Returning To AEW TV

CM Punk is sucking up all the oxygen in the room when it comes to AEW return news, and his hasn’t even been confirmed yet. To the contrary, if you are to believe Warner Brothers Discovery, he won’t even be affiliated with AEW: Collision when it debuts on June 17. Regardless of whether Punk returns or not, there are a handful of other AEW stars that will definitely be making their way back to TV on Collision. One of those talents is La Facción Ingobernables’ Andrade El Idolo, and it would appear the news caught him off guard.

“Órale!!” Idolo tweeted. “What news, I had no idea!!!”

Idolo has not been seen on AEW TV since last year’s All Out when he competed in the Casino Battle Royal Ladder Match, vying for a shot at the AEW World Championship. A returning MJF went on to pick up the victory in the bout and would go on to successfully cash in his Casino Battle Royal chip against Jon Moxley at Full Gear. While Friedman was shooting up the ladder of success, Idolo was off-screen, and fans didn’t seem to know why.

A few months after his departure from AEW television, rumors swirled about why the Latin star was not being featured on television. Shortly before his hiatus, Idolo was reportedly involved in a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara, and some wondered if the lack of airtime was punishment for backstage tensions. However, a few weeks after All Out, Idolo revealed he had suffered a torn tricep and was undergoing surgery. While rehabbing, he has been seen traveling the world with his wife, WWE star Charlotte Flair.

Idolo is not the only star returning to the AEW fold on Collision. Following teases last week on Dynamite, Thunder Rosa and Miro were both listed as stars of the new Saturday night show in the official press release. Samoa Joe was also named as appearing and has not had an official AEW match since Revolution in March when he lost the AEW TNT Championship with Wardlow.
