Kevin Von Erich Calls MJF ‘One Of The Upcoming Greats’ – Exclusive

The Von Erich family has been a pro wrestling institution for more than sixty years. Their story was chronicled in the first season of Vice TV’s Dark Side of The Ring in the classic, The Last of The Von Erichs, and now their tale is about to get even more screen time, as a feature film about them, starring Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich, is set to be released later this year, titled The Iron Claw.

One of the other names attached to the project is All Elite Wrestling’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman. MJF has confirmed that he’ll be playing the role of Lance Von Erich, a wrestler who was not blood-related to the family but was presented as such.

In an exclusive Haus of Wrestling interview, being released tomorrow morning on the Haus of Wrestling podcast feed, Kevin Von Erich gives his thoughts on the current AEW World Champion.

“I know that my boys worked with the guy quite a bit and he’s a really gifted, gifted, gifted talent,” he said. “He can really talk, and I think he’s in shape. So, let’s see. He just may be one of the upcoming greats today. You know, in fact, he already is, isn’t he? He’s doing really well.”

It is worth noting that Kevin’s sons, Ross and Marshall, were MLW staples while MJF was with the promotion. That said, I quickly interjected noting that if the WWE Hall of Famer continued heaping praise on Friedman, we may not hear the end of it.

“Yeah, well, I’m not saying that I necessarily like him,” he laughed. “I’m just saying I think he’s successful.”

Kevin Von Erich’s Tales From The Top Rope seven-city tour kicks off September 1 at The Majestic Theater in Dallas, TX. Tickets for the general public go on sale tomorrow, Friday, June 2, and are available at EmporiumPresents.com. The events will be hosted by noted sports reporter Dale Hansen, and will also feature appearances by legendary WCCW referee, booker, and promoter, David Manning.
