Josh Barnett Announced For Big AEW WrestleDream Match

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett is set to make his AEW debut tomorrow at the inaugural AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view in Seattle, Washington! Barnett has crossed over with the world of professional wrestling several times, most notably being the face of GCW’s Bloodsport shoot-wrestling events over the past few years and most recently making his Pro Wrestling NOAH debut in early September.

Earlier tonight on AEW Collision, it was announced that Claudio Castagnoli will face Barnett during AEW WrestleDream: Zero Hour. Claudio laid down the gauntlet for anyone to face him via a video package, a challenge that was quickly answered by Barnett who trained in mixed martial arts under NJPW founder Antonio Inoki. This marks Claudio’s first singles match since losing the ROH World Championship to NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam last week.

Elsewhere on Collision, another match was announced for AEW WrestleDream: Zero Hour – taking the pay-per-view’s total match count to 14. An eight-person mixed tag team match will take place, pitting Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty, Diamante, and Mercedes Martinez against Satoshi Kojima, Keith Lee, Athena, and Billie Starkz.

The two matches join Luchasaurus vs. Nick Wayne as well as The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn defending the AEW Trios titles against TMDK’s Shane Haste, Mikey Nicholls, and Bad Dude Tito, which were both announced for Zero Hour earlier today.
