Lance Archer Makes His Return On AEW Dynamite

Lance Archer has made just a handful of appearances for AEW over the last year, last showing up in July. The Texas native made his return to the company on tonight’s AEW Dynamite, winning a short and dominant match against a wrestler named Barrett Brown. The bout started with Archer dragging his opponent down the ramp and throwing him into the ring before bringing things to a close quickly. Archer was without Jake “The Snake” Roberts tonight, who had acted as his manager in the past.

While he hasn’t been too active in AEW recently, Archer has spent some time performing in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He competed in the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship tournament for NJPW earlier this year, losing to Will Ospreay in the finals. Archer also took part in NJPW’s World Tag League tournament last year with Minoru Suzuki as his partner.

After debuting with AEW in April 2020, near the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Archer entered a feud with Cody Rhodes. The two both made it to the finals of a tournament to decide the first TNT Champion, with Rhodes getting the win. Later that year, Archer received a shot at Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship but fell short. He has since gone on to serve a supporting role in the promotion, becoming a staple of “AEW Dark” before that show was ended earlier this year.
