MJF Accepts Title Challenge For AEW Worlds End

After accepting Samoa Joe’s help in a tag match at AEW Full Gear, Maxwell Jacob Friedman overcame a storyline injury to compete in the show’s main event, despite the announcement that Adam Cole would be taking his place. MJF successfully defended the AEW World Championship against “Switchblade” Jay White, and tonight’s AEW Dynamite saw Joe come after what he was promised: a shot at MJF’s world title.

Though MJF was reluctant to grant Joe his title match, Adam Cole was on hand to talk sense into his friend, explaining that Joe would stop at nothing until he got the match he was promised. While Cole’s speech fired Friedman up enough to challenge Joe to a match tonight, the former ROH World Television Champion suggested the next PPV instead: AEW Worlds End on December 30. As pointed out by MJF, that show takes place in his backyard of Long Island, New York.

With many different members of the AEW roster currently gunning for MJF and his title, Joe also promised that he didn’t intend to let anybody else get their hands on the champion between now and the end of the year. It seems likely this is a storyline covering the fact that MJF was reportedly injured during Saturday’s show. MJF isn’t expected to be out long and is said to be remaining on TV.
