Tony Khan’s ‘Great Partners At TBS’ Grant AEW Dynamite Special Overrun

Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite will feature several huge matches, many of which will have Continental Classic implications. In the Gold League, RUSH will take on Jay Lethal; Swerve Strickland will battle Jon Moxley, and Jay White will fight Mark Briscoe. The show, which takes place in Dallas, will also see a special appearance from The Von Erichs promoting The Iron Claw. This is just some of the announced action, as Dynamite is also loaded with The Golden Jets and more.

Yesterday, AEW President Tony Khan took to social media to give fans good news about tonight’s show.

“Thanks to our great partners at TBS, we have an overrun of 5 minutes planned for Tomorrow night live on Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite!” he exclaimed. “We’ll see you all tomorrow, we’re excited for a 5 minute overrun on @TBSNetwork on Wednesday Night Dynamite, starting 8pm ET/7pm CT tomorrow!”

The post’s timing caught fans’ attention. Shortly before it went live, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer teased fans with a cryptic social media post.

“Things are changing greatly,” he wrote. “Let’s just say things changed greatly with Raw negotiations from a few weeks ago. And Punk is a huge part of the selling point.”

Immediately after Meltzer’s tweet went live, speculation began to run rampant that WWE could be talking to Warner Brothers Discovery about Raw’s TV rights. Many fans believed that Khan put out his message to double down on how good his relationship is with Warner in response.

As it stands, SmackDown is headed to USA next year, while NXT is off to The CW. Raw is the last significant WWE property to announce where it is headed. Previous comments CM Punk has made about WBD CEO David Zaslov’s admiration for him have fans connecting dots. Haus of Wrestling has looked into the speculation at length and is told much of the rumor and innuendo around the situation is inaccurate.

I will have much more to say regarding this story on today’s episode of Rumor & Innuendo.
