MLW Advertises Matt Riddle For First-Time-Ever Match

WWE released Matt Riddle on September 21, along with roughly two dozen other talents, including Shelton Benjamin, Mustafa Ali, and other notable names. As of today, all of those talents’ 90-day non-compete clauses have expired, and they are free agents. Ahead of hitting the market, Riddle got fans talking yesterday when he left the door open to a UFC return and hinted that 2024 would be a big year for him.

In the last few hours, a social media post from a few days ago has gone viral featuring an MLW advertisement with Matt Riddle on it. The ad was apparently distributed at the Battleground Championship Wrestling show that took place this past weekend at the 2300 Arena. The MLW event that Riddle is advertised for is Kings Of Colosseum on January 6, also at the 2300 Arena. The top of the ad promotes Riddle taking on Jacob Fatu in a first-time-ever encounter. Haus of Wrestling has been able to independently verify the authenticity of the advertisement.

Haus of Wrestling is working to clarify the details of Riddle’s deal with MLW. The promotion recently settled with WWE in an anti-trust suit they filed and looks to have more cash on hand to spend on talent. Fightful reported earlier this month that Richard Holliday, who recently returned to the MLW mix, is on a per-appearance deal and is not under a full-time contract.

Another notable free agent will return to MLW soon, Sami Callihan. Per a press release, which can be read below, MLW announced that Callihan will take on Satoshi Kojima, also at Kings Of Colosseum. Haus of Wrestling is also looking to clarify the details of Callihan’s deal with MLW.

MLW today announced Sami Callihan vs. Satoshi Kojima at the beIN SPORTS TV taping portion of MLW Kings of Colosseum Saturday, January 6 at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.

🎟 Grab tickets at MLW2300.com and the 2300 Arena box office. Tickets start at $15.

Sami Callihan returns to MLW as a member of its 2024 roster on January 6th and he’s got a high-profile opponent standing across the ring for his highly anticipated return.

In Callihan’s first singles match in an MLW ring in nearly 5 years, the Ohio native will fight one of MLW’s most beloved wrestlers of all time: Satoshi Kojima.

For the first time ever, Callihan and Kojima will clash and they’ll do it as a part of the beIN SPORTS TV taping portion of the event.

Kojima, fresh off of a spectacular return to MLW after 20 years, looks to continue his momentum as the first-ever World Heavyweight Champion’s 2024 campaign kicks off against the Callihan Death Machine.

Callihan, a ferocious and unrelenting fighter who can fight virtually any style has his own agenda. One that he vows to share at the right time and place.

Now, two of MLW’s all-time best throw down with big implications for their future in Major League Wrestling. Will Callihan crush Kojima in his return or will he eat a lariat at the hands of Kojima?

Lock in your tickets now at http://MLW2300.com and see it go down Saturday, January 6 in Philadelphia.
