Spoiler On AEW Plans For Scotty 2 Hotty

AEW Dynamite is currently just getting going with the AEW Continental Classic Blue League finals. In it, Swerve Strickland, Jon Moxley, and “Switchblade” Jay White are competing to earn a spot in the overall tournament finals this Saturday at AEW Worlds End. However, it is the appearance of a current AEW producer on the pre-show that is catching the attention of many fans on social media: Scott Garland, aka former WWE Tag Team Champion Scotty 2 Hotty.

One video shared by a fan on social media shows Garland coming to the ring while the name Scott Garland pops on the screen. This appears to be the name he will be using in AEW. Name change aside, the rest of his act is exactly like his Too Cool presentation in WWE. Including the original Too Cool song he used to dance to with “Grandmaster Sexay” Brian Christopher and Rikishi. Whether or not AEW President Tony Khan has the rights to use the song on AEW TV is unclear. He also wore a bucket hat, cargo pants, and a puffy hat.

In another video, Taylor can be landing his signature worm maneuver, just like he used to do in his WWE days.

In regard to what he did on the pre-show, he tagged with The Acclaimed against Daddy Magic, Jake Hager, and The Gunns.

After, or during, the match, which it looks like he was on the winning side of, Taylor scissored all three members of The Acclaimed.

In the photos circulating, production members can be seen around the ring recording the action. While it is not clear what this is being filmed for, based on the positive reaction his appearance is getting, it would seem the footage will make its way out in some fashion.

Taylor confirmed in October that he has been working backstage for AEW as a producer. Now that he has returned to the ring to much fanfare, it will be interesting to see how the company uses him going forward. Pairing him with fellow Attitude Era star Billy Gunn to help further get over the fun-loving Acclaimed seems like a good use of his star power. Haus of Wrestling is working to learn more about how Taylor will be used in AEW and will bring you more information when we have it.
