Nia Jax Gives Update On In-Ring Future: ‘I Am Training’

Apart from an appearance in this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble, Nia Jax hasn’t been an active wrestler since her WWE release in 2021. However, during a recent interview with Bill Apter for Sportskeeda Wrestling, Jax revealed that she’s ready for a return to the ring in the near future.

“I am training,” Jax said. “I’ll train over at D-Von Dudley’s ring. … And then I go over to Nattie and TJ’s, so they run me through some drills and stuff like that, and I have matches and that. I’ll get in the ring every now and then [with] some of my friends, like Charlotte and her husband, Manny.”

Jax entered this year’s Royal Rumble at number 30, lasting just under two minutes in the match, according to Cageside Seats. Though she wasn’t in the match very long, it did take quite a few women working together to eliminate Jax. Prior to that appearance, her last match was the September 20, 2021, episode of WWE Raw against former tag team partner Shayna Baszler. Jax was released on November 4 of that year, the same day as stars such as Keith Lee, Ember Moon, and Karrion Kross, who was later brought back.

Over the course of her WWE run, Jax was often accused by fans of being a dangerous worker. Addressing those claims during a February 2022 interview with Renee Paquette, Jax stated that she’d only ever injured two wrestlers in the ring, including the infamous match where she broke Becky Lynch’s nose – a moment that helped turn Lynch into a superstar.

Despite the fact that she’s staying ready to compete and made a WWE appearance earlier this year, Jax doesn’t seem to think a return is in the works at the current moment. Speaking to Apter, she elaborated on what she’s been up to, apart from her in-ring training.

“Right now, I’m just hanging out. I’m enjoying being at home with my family,” Jax continued. “I have a new nephew, and I kind of started being obsessed with Pilates.”
