Tonight’s WWE NXT started off with a bang as Cody Rhodes took to the ring and started the show. After asking the crowd what they wanted to talk about, he made it clear that he had more than one announcement to make. The first was that like the newly signed females of WWE NXT, the young male talent will be getting their own Breakout Tournament. He also confirmed that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will be returning, with both male and female teams competing for the coveted trophy.
He went on to say that tonight’s show will feature a guest general manager, HIM! Rhodes was then joined by WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov and eventually WWE NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and his “Mami,” Rhea Ripley. After some jaw-jacking, The American Nightmare made it official that tonight’s main event will feature Dragunov putting his NXT title on the line against Mysterio. As if the stakes could not be high enough, he added that LA Knight will serve as special guest referee. YEAH!
Tonight’s show will also include a much-anticipated rematch between Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker, who will have John Cena and Paul Heyman, respectively, in their corners. The Undertaker has also been teased for an appearance.
