CM Punk Jokes About WWE Return In November

Will he? Won’t he? The answer as to whether or not CM Punk will return to WWE likely won’t be known for certain until WWE Survivor Series goes off the air. While it’s beginning to look more doubtful, with Punk and WWE reportedly not in talks at the moment, the former AEW World Champion seems to be open to joking about the situation. During a recent appearance for Cage Fury Fighting Championship, where Punk does commentary, the wrestler spoke with a fellow broadcaster about a potential upcoming appearance.

“We got CM Punk here tonight,” said CFFC’s John Morgan. “He may be going to other promotions. Who knows?”

“Anthony Pettis Fighting Championship is actually in November. You’re correct,” Punk replied, laughing.

While Morgan was comically implying Punk may appear at Survivor Series, Punk took the moment to reference UFC fighter Pettis’ upstart MMA promotion. Started last year as the Showtime Fighting Championship, the promotion underwent a name change but has continued running regular events. The APFC maintains a partnership with UFC and airs on UFC Fight Pass.

Following his AEW exit, CM Punk’s chances of returning to wrestling are still up in the air. However, the chances of the 44-year-old returning to mixed martial arts are far more remote. The former WWE Champion went 0-2 in his UFC career, though one of those losses was later overturned after Punk’s opponent, Mike Jackson, tested positive for marijuana.

Survivor Series is in Punk’s hometown of Chicago. The show is sold out, and few tickets remain even on the secondary market. Earlier today, Haus of Wrestling exclusively reported that comp tickets, usually reserved for talent and crew to invite friends and family to the show, are not being given out for Survivor Series. The company is likely looking at a record-breaking gate for the upcoming PLE, and WWE will pull out all the stops. One question remains, however: will Punk be a part of those plans?

Haus of Wrestling has partnered with Inside The Ropes to present An Afternoon With Kevin Nash And Sean Waltman on November 25 at Joe’s Live in Rosemont, IL, ten minutes from the All-State Arena. Tickets are now available at JoesLiveRosemont.com.
