Jakara Jackson Pulled From WWE NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

The WWE NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament has already begun, with two first-round matches having already taken place over the last several weeks. Ahead of another match-up on tomorrow’s NXT, the company announced that Jakara Jackson is not medically cleared, forcing her to pull out of the tournament. Brinley Reece will instead step in, making her TV debut in tomorrow’s match against Arianna Grace.

As of now, it’s not clear what type of injury Jackson is dealing with or how she sustained it. Jackson last wrestled at an NXT live event on September 23, where she teamed with Lash Legend to take on Kiyah Saint and Lyra Valkyrie. Both Jackson and Legend are members of the group Meta-Four, and the two have been teaming together since Jackson’s debut in August 2022. Meta-Four is led by NXT’s Noam Dar, and also currently includes Oro Mensah.

Reece, whose real name is Breanna Ruggiero, made her wrestling debut just last month at an NXT live event. Ruggiero was recruited by WWE last year and was previously a tumbling and acrobat team captain for Sacramento State. Just a few days ago, Ruggiero (using her real name instead of Reece) wrestled against Grace at a live event, with Grace coming out on top. It seems the company liked what they saw from the bout, as the match will now take place again on the USA Network tomorrow evening.

The October 3 edition of NXT saw Kelani Jordan defeat Izzi Dame to advance to the next round, while Lola Vice beat Dani Palmer during last week’s action-packed episode. After Grace vs. Reece tomorrow, the final first-round bout will see Karmen Petrovic facing off against Jaida Parker, provided there are no more last-minute shake-ups to the schedule. As announced by Cody Rhodes last week, a WWE NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament will take place after the women’s tournament has concluded.
