The Rock Reportedly Expected To Embrace Heel Persona

This past Thursday, WWE held their WWE WrestleMania XL Kickoff event featuring many of the company’s top stars. Among them were Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reights, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It was a wild affair made even more electric by the lively fans in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Once The Rock hit the stage, he was met with a distinct mix of cheers and boos, as many were unhappy that he may take away Rhodes’ main event match against Reigns. The event concluded with The Rock aligning with Reigns and teasing some kind of confrontation with Rhodes and Rollins.

WrestleVotes reports the following regarding the way The Rock will present himself on WWE TV going forward.

“Sources suggest that The Rock is expected to fully embrace his heel turn, drawing inspiration from his past ‘Hollywood’ Rock persona,” they began. “Additionally, I’m told to anticipate the release of Rock branded ‘Cody Crybabies’ merchandise. The story is just beginning…”

The Rock and Reigns have been announced as appearing for this coming Friday’s WWE SmackDown. It will be interesting to see what direction the newly heel The Rock goes, as it seems a bit odd that he aligns with Reigns while questions linger about who is the proverbial head of the table. Even more interesting, perhaps, is what contest The Rock will wind up in at WWE WrestleMania XL. With the big match against Reigns seemingly no longer happening, many are now speculating The Rock and Reigns will team to take on Rhodes and Rollins, possibly on Night One.

There is also the possibility that The Rock finds himself at odds with Rollins, setting up two big Bloodline title matches to headline both nights of the show. As it stands, the winner of the Men’s Elimination Chamber match later this month will take on Rollins at WWE WrestleMania XL. So, if that match is to somehow manifest, it is possible, but not likely, that The Rock finds himself in a pod, waiting to earn his match against Rollins inside the Elimination Chamber in Australia.
