John Cena Reportedly Won’t Face Roman Reigns At WWE Crown Jewel

Based on recent comments made on TV by Paul Heyman and other members of The Bloodline, there was a great deal of speculation surrounding the possibility of Roman Reigns vs. John Cena taking place at the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that the match is not currently planned for the show, which will take place on November 4, 2023. The report does not mention potential opponents for either Cena or Reigns, but Cena is said to be scheduled for the show at the very least.

Reigns is set to return to WWE programming on this Friday’s WWE SmackDown. It will be the first appearance made by The Tribal Chief since the SmackDown after WWE SummerSlam, all the way back in August. While it won’t be televised, Reigns is also set to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Sami Zayn the following night at a live event in Kansas City, Missouri.

Cena has momentum on his side, coming off of a win this past Saturday at WWE Fastlane. The Peacemaker star teamed with LA Knight against Reigns’ cousins, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa, with both Knight and Cena giving one another respect in the ring following the bout. It’s unclear if Cena will move on to a new feud, or if the current storyline pitting the star against The Bloodline will continue. While it seems that Cena and Reigns aren’t scheduled to lock up in Riyadh next month, it remains possible they could wrestle sometime down the line. As Cena acknowledged on Saturday, though, he will be returning to Hollywood when the SAG-AFTRA strike comes to a close.
