WWE NXT Will Air Commercial-Free For 30 Minutes Against AEW

Tomorrow night will be a popcorn-making affair for fans of head-to-head pro wrestling battles as AEW Dynamite presents a special Title Tuesday edition up against WWE NXT. WWE has ramped up its star power in NXT since the WWE Draft earlier this year, with Becky Lynch capturing the NXT Women’s Championship and Dominik Mysterio occupying the NXT North American Championship picture. Tomorrow night, the sports entertainment juggernaut is preparing to deliver an over-the-top two hours that will feature John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Paul Heyman, and possibly The Undertaker, among others.

Just now, WWE NXT revealed on their official X account that they are taking things a step further when it comes to generating fan interest and engagement.

“BREAKING: The first 30 MINUTES of #WWENXT tomorrow night will be commercial-free!” they wrote.

There are many good reasons for WWE to pull out all the stops tomorrow night. Notably, WWE Hall of Fame inductee Adam Copeland, aka Edge, will be making his AEW in-ring debut against Luchasaurus on Dynamite, and a planned confrontation with Christian Cage is also being teased. While that would usually be enough on its own to get the WWE machine moving into action, there is also the issue of the ongoing TV rights negotiations they are engaged in.

It was recently announced that SmackDown will be moving to USA next year as part of a five-year deal that will see it leave Fox. WWE Raw and NXT have yet to announce where their content will air in the coming years, but it is being reported that it won’t be on Fox. That leaves a variety of traditional cable and network platforms, as well as established streaming services, as options. While Nick Khan and other WWE executives try to finalize those deals, strong viewership numbers will go a long way in securing big-money agreements. Having the bragging rights of outdrawing your nearest competition also cannot hurt.
