CM Punk Lawyer Calls Some of The Elite’s Antics ‘In Poor Taste’ – Exclusive

At AEW All Out 2022, CM Punk went scorched Earth regarding his feelings on Colt Cabana, The Elite, and other aspects of the company he had issues with. Following the media scrum, a brawl broke out backstage involving Punk, his friend Ace Steel, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and more. Everyone involved was stripped of their respective titles, taken off TV, and made to sign an NDA. The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega were brought back at AEW Full Gear not long after, and in their return match made several references to Punk and the backstage incident. Including Omega biting one of his opponents, like Steel was said to have done to him, and hitting Punk’s signature GTS finisher.

On the latest episode of Rumor & Innuendo, Punk and Steel’s lawyer, Stephen P New, gave his thoughts on how The Elite acted in that match and if it in any way violated the NDA they signed.

“It was in poor taste, but I don’t know that it violated any kind of NDA or anything like that,” he stated. “It was the AEW equivalent of Kevin Nash dressed up as Arn Anderson dropping a bottle of beer in the ring, you know? I mean, it was just, it was really poor taste, but I don’t think it violated any kind of NDA.”

While not an allusion to the AEW All Out brawl, Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks did appear to take a victory lap on the Collision episode following Punk’s release. There was speculation Punk took a victory lap of his own following his return promo on Raw, but as Haus of Wrestling exclusively reported, he was merely reacting in the moment to the energy of the crowd.
