Update: Tony Khan has just announced on social media that HOOK vs. Samoa Joe will air commercial-free on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
The internet wrestling community was thrown into disarray this past week when Tony Khan went on a multi-post social media spree in response to a jab from the USA Network. The AEW President took particular issue with Jinder Mahal being awarded a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match after not competing for almost a year in a televised match. FTW Champion HOOK was dragged into the conversation when Khan pointed to his 28-1 record and how that made him deserving of his shot at AEW World Champion Samoa Joe. With Khan putting HOOK under the spotlight as a credible contender, others decided to point to the young star’s weaknesses as a challenger.
In a social media video released by AEW, HOOK stands on a sidewalk in the rain with his hood over the top of his head, addressing his critics.
“So, who’s the pressure on tomorrow?” he began. “I mean, is there really anything that I have to lose? And also, I’m not big enough to compete with Samoa Joe (takes a bite of pizza), but I’m getting some calories right now, so who knows? Then again, who the f-ck am I anyway? Twenty-four hours, Joe. I’m coming for that world title.”
